About the Owner

As a first generation Nigerian American content creator and style expert, I have been creating content and blogging (www.chiomabrown.com) for 10+ years. After years of being asked about my clothing and head wraps, I began personal styling for local and celebrity clients. I realized I wanted to be able to help the women that follow me and ask for my styling tips in a more global way. I knew I wanted to create a boutique with a fusion of handmade and thoughtfully curated pieces that I know will bring my tribe, beauty and joy.

In 2021, I created AMAKA JOY for the bold luxe woman who loves color. AMAKA is an Igbo word that means “God is beautiful” as well as “Queen of ravishing beauty who is spontaneous and versatile by nature” .

God is the source of my joy and I created this brand to serve the beautiful Queens in my tribe. Gorgeous colorful prints and patterns bring me so much joy, and with that the name AMAKA JOY was born.

At AMAKA JOY, you will recognize the influence of my Nigerian American culture, as well as my deep love for eye catching colors, prints, and patterns. I am so excited to be your first and only stop when you think of beautiful and joy inducing, head-wraps, clothing, and accessories!
